As the game went on Thursday night, the only question left was whether Tompkins would score on No. 9 Katy (Texas).

The answer turned out to be no. Katy finished off an 84-0 victory, its third consecutive shutout and sixth shutout of the season.

The 84 points are a school record. The final points came on a Wes Chance 67-yard run.

Katy has allowed 11 points in its last six games. Seven Lakes scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the final minute of a 40-8 loss on Oct. 10. The previous week, Katy Taylor hit a fourth-quarter field goal after Katy was ahead 41-0.

For the season, Katy has outscored the opposition 445-18.

Beyond the 11 points in the last six games, Katy allowed just a touchdown to The Woodlands in its first four games.

Katy finishes the regular season next week against Cinco Ranch.

Cinco Ranch is 8-0 and plays Strake Jesuit (Houston) on Friday night, but consider that Katy beat Cinco Ranch 51-0 last year.

Katy has eyes on its fourth consecutive state finals and first state title since 2012.

Glass, making his varsity debut, scored four touchdowns on runs of 1, 4, 53 and 34 yards. His first varsity carry went for 15 yards.
