Norfork’s senior high squads swept a pair from Viola on Tuesday night in 1A-2 North Conference action at Bobby D. Hulse Gymnasium.

The Panthers shook off a cold third quarter to slide past the Longhorns, 41-34, to improve to 20-8 overall and 6-2 in league play.

Travis Lewis tossed in 17 points to lead the Panthers, who led 20-9 after one quarter and 28-21 at the half before Viola rallied even at 30-30 after holding Norfork to just two points in the third.

Alex Disandro added 11 points, while Jacob Davis notched 10 and Jacob Standfield chipped in three for Norfork, which defeated Viola for the third time this season and second time in four days. The teams met in the third-place game of the North Arkansas College Senior Boys’ Tournament on Saturday at Harrison.

Viola (16-11 overall) was led by Steffahn Smith with 14 points, while Trevor Himschoot added eight, Elijah Griggs and Joey Prinner totaled five apiece, and Brady Ramsey chipped in two.

The Lady Panthers picked up a 47-44, 1A-2 North victory with the help of 11 3-pointers, including eight in the first half.

Mary Miller scored 14 points, while Riley Scalf added 12 and Kelcy Acklin notched eight to lead Norfork (17-9, 5-3), which led 18-16 after one quarter, 25-21 at the half and 39-37 after three frames.

Viola was paced by 18 points from Amanda Martin and 10 from Haylee Connors.

Viola’s lone win came in the junior boys’ game as it ran to a 46-21 victory. Saul Maple led Norfork with 10 points.
