The Norfork Lady Panthers earned their second consecutive trip to the state tournament with a 59-24 whipping of the Hughes Lady Blue Devils in the opening round of the 1A Region 2 Tournament on Thursday night at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn.
Kelcy Acklin tossed in 19 points to lead Norfork (27-10), which led 16-6 after one quarter and 30-19 at the half.
Freshman Marleigh Dodson added 12 points for Norfork and Cheyenne Acklin totaled nine. Paris Perkins and Ashanti Thomas paced Hughes with nine and eight points, respectively.
The Lady Panthers will face the Bay Lady Yellowjackets at 7 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
The Panthers, meanwhile, saw their season come to an end with a 55-31 loss to the Armorel Tigers.
Norfork, the No. 2 seed from the 1A-2 North, trailed 11-4 after one quarter and by as much as 17-5 midway through the second quarter before facing a halftime deficit of 26-14.
Armorel, the No. 3 seed from the 1A-3 East, opened up its lead to 41-21 after three quarters.
Travis Lewis paced the Panthers, who finish their season at 28-11, with 11 points and Jacob Davis added five. Nash Winters paced Armorel with 20 points and Seth Wyatt notched nine.
Armorel will face top-seeded Bay at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
