Northeast Baptist kicks off football season

By

The ACEL 8-man football season begins Friday in West Monroe as Northeast Baptist hosts Unity Christian of Leland, Mississippi at 6 p.m. at Mustang Stadium on the campus of Riser Middle School.

Northeast Baptist is coming off its second consecutive state championship under coach Tyler Albritton.

The Knights have to start over in some spots with six seniors graduated from a year ago. Sophomore TJ Roberts takes over at quarterback after playing wide receiver last year. Roberts is no stranger to quarterback though. Roberts stepped in as an eighth-grader in 2013 due to injuries and started the ACEL state championship game for the Knights.

“Our skill players and linebackers know the system,” Albritton said. “They have a lot of experience. (Roberts) has led the offense before he just played wide out last year.”

Admission is set for $6.
