Northeast Ohio hoopsters nominated as McDonald’s All-Americans

McDonald’s today released the names of more than 800 boys and girls high school senior basketball players who have been nominated to participate in the 2015 McDonald’s All-American Games.

The area boys hoops players who have been nominated are Shaker Heights’ Esa Ahmad, Villa Angela-St. Joseph’s Carlton Bragg, St. Edward’s Kipper Nichols and Kent Roosevelt’s Phillip Grant.

The area girls basketball players who have been nominated are Chagrin Falls’ Hallie Thome and Shaw’s Fredniqua Walker.

The six Northeast Ohio student-athletes will learn if they’ve been selected when the rosters for both the boys and girls contests are announced during a selection show set to air Jan. 28 on ESPNU at 6 p.m.

The prestigious postseason all-star contests will be played at the United Center in Chicago on April 1.
