Quentin Goodin, one of the top players in Kentucky in the 2016 class, was offered by Butler while on an unofficial visit Thursday.
The 6-2 Goodin, ranked No. 61 in his class by Rivals, also visited Xavier on Thursday. Butler has strong competition for Goodin, who claims offers from Louisville, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, Marquette, Minnesota, Purdue and others.
Butler had three Kentucky natives on the roster last season – Kameron Woods, Kelan Martin and Jackson Davis.
• Southport junior Joey Brunk has his first official set this weekend, to Oklahoma. The 6-10 Brunk, ranked No. 139 in the 2016 class by Rivals, has offers from Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue, Xavier and others.
• Lawrence North senior Pat Bacon, the Marion County Player of the Year, committed to Division II University of Tampa on Thursday. Bacon averaged 21.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists as a senior. Tampa was 18-10 last season and plays in the same conference as Division II national champion Florida Southern.
