OHS tennis heads to state


The Opelousas High tennis team qualified one boys single player and two girls doubles teams for the annual state tournament that is scheduled to begin Thursday at Heard Stadium at the Louisiana at Monroe.

All regional qualifying rounds were also held at ULM.

Senior Chase Stephens will participate in the tournament for the second straight year along with Myiesha Richard, who will again compete in girls’ doubles.

Stephens qualified for the state tourney by reaching the semifinal round. The OHS senior qualified with straight set 6-3, 6-4 victories.

Richard and doubles partner Kennedy Denham reached the round of 32 with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 victory.

Chante Stephens and Shelby Richard also qualified for the state tournament after posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory
