Down by seven on the road in their district play opener, the Ouachita Lions scored 14 points in the final 10 minutes, 17 seconds of the game to beat Natchitoches Central 28-21.

The teams entered halftime tied at 14 and did not score in the third quarter before Natchitoches’ Austin Guy ran in his second touchdown of the game 90 seconds into the third quarter. Desmond Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for the touchdown to cut the deficit down to one point after the failed PAT.

Ouachita outgained Natchitoches 384-323 and did so running 21 fewer plays. Ouachita averaged 8.3 yards per play compared to Natchitoches’ 4.8 yards per play.
