Jasmine Peeples totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Alabama State in a 62-45 win at Mississippi Valley State on Monday.

Kayla Tucker and Britney Wright also scored 12 points for the Hornets (7-7, 3-1 SWAC). Daniele Ewert had 11 points and eight rebounds.

ASU scored 12 of the game’s first 16 points and led 31-16 at halftime. The Hornets led by as many as 22 points in the second half.

Christina Reed had 14 points and nine rebounds for Valley (2-12, 0-3). Kahdejah Stevens added 10 points.

ASU hosts Alabama A&M at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Rachel Brownlee’s 23 points led Tuskegee, which visits Clark Atlanta on Thursday.

Brittnee Hazel posted 16 points and 10 rebounds for Fort Valley, which scored the game’s first eight points.

His nine assists were the most for ASU this season. Waters had no turnovers.

DeMarcus Robinson finished with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting and seven assists. Maurice Strong added 14 points and Bobby Brown 10.

ASU, which shot 58 percent in the second half, posted a season-high 22 assists.

Jeffrey Simmons scored 20 points for Valley. Latrell Love had 18, Billy Jackson 13 and Rakwan Kelly 10.
