untitledThe Chartiers Valley Boys Soccer team has made huge strides to be where they are this year from the last few years. The Colts need only one more section win to have as many as they have had the previous two seasons. Junior captain Sean Tinney has had an impressive start to the season with 4 tallies in the goal column, along with Senior captain Noah Zajicek who is tied at two goals a piece with Junior right midfielder Charlie Kovach. The soccer season is already half way through, and the colts need only 3 more wins to clinch playoff berth. Many believe that this year will be the start of a new beginning for this program. Lead by Head Coach CV alumni Garrett Mackenzie; along with his brothers Travis and Derek Mackenzie, also Colts alumni. Goal keeper coach Jim DiMarco and shooting coach Adam Gazda attended CV and were on the state runner-up boys team for CV along with the others mentioned. Head Coach Garrett Mackenzie stated ” Those were times and memories to embrace and hold on to forever, and to get this program back up to that level of competition would be exhilarating”. Mackenzie believes that this years team can and without a doubt will be the start to getting back up to that high level of play in the playoffs and make a good run. The boys have a big week coming ahead of them going up against the Panthers of Upper Saint Clair, Peters, and Canon Mac, two teams that have made it to states a numerous amount of time the past ten years. Finally, with all the work and effort being put towards this athletic CV squad, the colts have more than enough weapons and ammunition to stay fully energized and composed through 90 minutes of battle.
