MARION – Pleasant scored twice in each of the first two innings and then held off River Valley for a 4-3 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference baseball victory Tuesday.
Pleasant led 4-1 after two innings. RV added single runs in the third and fifth innings.
Zach Pytlarz allowed only one earned run in a complete-game performance for Pleasant. He struck out four, walked four, and gave up seven hits.
The Vikings’ Zach Lehner also went the distance on the hill. He whiffed four, walked one, and did not allow an earned run. He gave up seven hits.
Pytlarz and Matt Gabriel each poked two hits for Pleasant. Kyle Galyk, Tyler Axline, and Bryce McDonald each smacked a hit.
Tom Poorman and Aaron Berg both swatted two hits for the Vikes. Alec Branstetter, Travis Eickemeyer and Karac Doubikin all had one hit. Eickemeyer’s hit was a double.
Cardington-Lincoln 14, Northmor 2
CARDINGTON – Dustin Blanton gave up singles to three of Northmor‘s first four batters but then threw no-hit ball the rest of the way in Cardington-Lincoln‘s 14-2 MOAC win over Northmor.
Devin Pearl led Pirate hitters with three base knocks, including a double.
Cardington-Lincoln is now 3-6. Northmor is 3-4.
Jake Farley was the losing pitcher.
River Valley 7, Pleasant 5
MARION – River Valley took the lead for good with a two-run fourth inning and went on to beat Pleasant 7-5 in the MOAC.
Cambry Arnold led the Lady Vikings (6-4) with three hits, Madi Myers tripled and singled, Claire Nicholson smacked two hits, Sha Call hit a double, and Kylie Lang and Morgan Lott singled.
Call was the winning pitcher.
Taylor Chase swatted three hits for Pleasant (2-4). Allison Decker and losing pitcher Georgie Stacy both had two hits, and Adriana Stanford doubled in two runs.
Cardington-Lincoln 11, Northmor 1
CARDINGTON – The top of the Cardington-Lincoln lineup was a combined 12-for-20 in the Lady Pirates’ 11-1 MOAC triumph over Northmor.
Aubrey Clark and Khyla Jones both smacked three hits for Cardington-Lincoln, and Samantha Brininger, Alyson Adams and Makenna McClure added two hits each. One of Adams’ hits was a home run.
Rylie Partlow produced one hit and two RBIs for the Lady Pirates.
Brooke Snyder was the winning pitcher.
Dublin Jerome 7, Harding 0
DUBLIN – Dublin Jerome raced to a 7-0 lead through four innings and beat Harding by that tally in a non-league game.
Maxxine Pittman was the losing pitcher.
River Valley 6, Pleasant 0
CALEDONIA – Amy Poorman tossed a two-hitter and C.C. Keplar doubled twice and singled for River Valley in its 6-0 win over Pleasant.
Ridgedale 23, Bucyrus 6
BUCYRUS – Winning pitcher Taylor Rose clubbed four hits and Brooke Wollett and Chelsie Brenzo swatted home runs for Ridgedale in its 23-6 victory over Bucyrus.
Ashland 5, Harding 0
MARION – Harding fell 5-0 to Ashland on Monday.
In singles, Win Adissem lost 0-6, 1-6 to Caleb Sinchok, Jacob Lester was beaten 1-6, 0-6 by Tim Sprunger, and Trent Ramsey dropped a 4-6, 1-6 decision to Scott Frazee.
In doubles, Ryder Delavern and Cain Lackey were defeated 0-6, 1-6 by Erik Wasowski and Gregory Bell while Parker Baird and Colin Heart lost 0-6, 0-6 to Isaac White and Tommy Glazier.
