CINCINNATI – Before an exhausting 20 inning affair Saturday afternoon, Waverly Post 142 got a win Friday night over the Chillicothe Cobras.
The Shockers beat the Cobras, 5-4, behind a strong pitching performance from Jared Alley. The hurler allowed four hits and struck out nine en route to his second win of the summer.
Dylan Shockley and and Joe Henderson did their parts at the dish as Shockley went 2-3 with a bomb and Henderson finished 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
Saturday afternoon, Post 142 finished a game that had been suspended after seven innings of play with Cincinnati Yeager Post 199. The two dugouts lasted 13 innings this time around before Yeager finally broke the tie for the win, 10-9, in the bottom of the 20th.
Shockley once again shined, throwing 10 innings of four hit baseball and striking out 11. At the plate, he was 4-9 with two home runs, a double and 5 RBIs.
The Shockers are now 18-5 (7-1 Region 5) and will travel to Athens Post 21 for a doubleheader, Sunday.
