Nate Fore had the winning hit for Asheville Post 70 on Thursday night.

Nate Fore’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning not only ended a losing streak Thursday night.

It kept the season alive for the Asheville American League Post 70 baseball team.

Fore’s single was his only hit in a 3-2 home playoff win over the Gaston Braves at Roberson’s Holmes-Smith Field.

The best-of-five playoff series between Asheville (7-14) and Gaston is now 2-1 in the Braves’ favor. Game 4 is Friday at South Point and Game 5 (if necessary) would be Sunday at Roberson. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Asheville came into Thursday’s game in Skyland with a nine-game losing streak.

Jared Patterson was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Trenton Davis and Will Myers both added RBIs. Davis and John Heys were both 1-2. Davis’ hit was a double.

Pitching-wise, Cam Howell was awarded the win. He made a six-inning start with two runs (two earned), five hits, three walks and five strikeouts.

Devin Mangum came on in relief and threw three scoreless innings. Mangum only allowed one hit and one walk to go along with two strikeouts.
