The new Poudre High School softball coach is returning home.

Christine Hutton (Oglesby) will take over the Impalas after the team went 3-14 in 2014 under first-year coach Katie Hansen.

Hutton is a 1986 graduate of Rocky Mountain High School and lettered in volleyball, basketball and track with the Lobos. She didn’t play softball because it wasn’t offered by CHSAA until her senior year.

Her club softball career helped her to play four seasons at Colorado State University, being named the softball team’s MVP as a senior.

She comes to Poudre after spending the past 10 seasons as an assistant for the Valley (Gilcrest) High School softball team.

Valley won Class 3A state titles in 2010 and 2011 and have made the semifinals six years in a row.
