Praying Washington football coach gets support from presidential candidates

By

Bremerton High School Joe Kennedy

The situation involving Bremerton (Wash.) High and assistant coach Joe Kennedy has drawn the attention on social media of Republican presidential candidates Ben Carson and Donald Trump.

On Friday, Carson tweeted:

Then on Saturday, Trump tweeted:

Trump had a slight misstep when he said the Liberty Institute had suspended Kennedy. The Liberty Institute is the Texas-based organization backing Kennedy and serving as his legal counsel.

In case you haven’t been following, Kennedy has led a postgame prayer at midfield shortly after the end of each of the team’s games. That drew criticism, censure and, eventually, last week his being placed on on paid leave.

He showed up for Thursday’s game and watched from the stands. A group of Satanists, invited by students, were at the game to support Kennedy.
