Emery reached heights never achieved before as she pole vaulted her way into both the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference Meet and school record books with a winning leap of 11-feet, 9-inches in helping the Spartans win the league title. The senior who is committed to Appalachian State also took fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.89) and eighth in the long jump (14-11.5).

Farrell played a big role in Lakeview’s dominance at the SMAC Championships, as the sophomore distance runner anchored the winning 3,200 relay team (10:02.89) and was a part of the winning 1,600 relay team (4:13.72). She also won the 800 (2:25.39) and was runner-up in the 1,600 (5:20.37).

Brandon Randle
Randle has received a lot of attention for his football abilities, but the junior has displayed plenty of his athleticism this spring for the Bearcats. At the SMAC Championships, he captured league titles in the long jump (23-1.5), the 110 hurdles (15.25) and the 300 hurdles (40.13).

St. Philip boys’ track & field
Downey didn’t lose in any of his four events at the SCAA West Division Championships, leading the Tigers to their second consecutive division title. He won the long jump (21-0), the 110 hurdles (16.82) the 300 hurdles (42.71) and anchored the 400 relay team (45.95).

At the Purdy Invitational, he won the long jump (20-6), the 110 hurdles (15.78) and the 300 hurdles (40.12) while leading the 400 relay team to a runner-up finish (46.24).
Connor Gilbert
Harper Creek boys’ lacrosse
Gilbert has been a key contributor for the Beavers this season, coming up big in a matchup against city rival Lakeview.
The sophomore midfielder, who leads the team in face-off winning percentage (50%) led Harper Creek with six goals in a 18-12 victory over the Spartans — clinching the final spot in the Southwest Michigan Lacrosse Conference championship bracket.

B.C. Central girls’ track and field
At the SMAC Championships, Smith competed in four events — and stood on top of the podium four times. The senior speedster captured individual league titles in the 100 (12.59) and the 200 (26.93) and was part of the winning 400 relay (51.14) and 800 relay (1:48.12) teams along with Karen Harris, Erion Traylor and Jaylah Wade.
