Ben Alvord tripled and drove in a pair of runs to lead St. Cloud Apollo to a 7-4 win over Grand Rapids on Friday at Dick Putz Field.
Jack Atkinson added two hits and two RBI for the Eagles.
Tanner Aleshire got the win in relief for Apollo (1-3).
ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL 7, MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 2
Top-ranked St. Cloud Cathedral beat No. 6 Minnehaha Academy in a showdown at Dick Putz Field between two top teams in Class 2A.
Both teams were undefeated coming in to the game. Cathedral improves to 4-0 overall, Minnehaha Academy drops to 5-1.
ALBANY 9, SAUK CENTRE 6
AVON – Jon Harlander was 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Huskies over the Mainstreeters.
Harlander also pitched five innings to earn the win. Mitchell Thelen and Nick Mergen each had two hits for Albany (2-1 Granite Ridge Conference, 5-1 overall).
Tanner Schmiesing was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Sauck Centre and Jake Haskamp was 3-for-4 for the Mainstreeters.
FOLEY 5, PIERZ 1
PIERZ – Austin Matvick went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI to lead Foley past Pierz.
Cameron Jurek got the complete-game win on the mound for Pierz, allowing five hits, one run and three walks. He struck out eight.
Teddy Dehler went 2-for-3 for Pierz.
BECKER 2, CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI 1
BECKER – Clayton Gallus hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning to lead the Bulldogs to their third straight win.
Andrew Stanger was 2-for-2 for Becker (3-1). Cody Gruenhagen pitched all seven innings to get the win.
K-M-S 3, KIMBALL 2
KERKHOVEN – Jordan Engler got the win and pitched seven innings, had eight strikeouts and three walks for Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
Brandin Dahl and Nathan Torkelson both went 1-for-3. Dahl had an RBI. Rylan Hatlestad went 1-for-2 and had two RBI for the Fighting Saints.
Brady Faber went 3-for-3 and Quinten Berres was 2-for-3 for the Cubs.
MAPLE LAKE 13, ZIMMERMAN 3 (6 innings)
MAPLE LAKE – Cal Redemske went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead Maple Lake.
Damian Kaley drove in two runs for the Irish.
Mack Riley went 1-for2 with one RBI for Zimmerman.
LITCHFIELD 17, HL-W-W 2
LITCHFIELD – Cody Klabunde went 3-for-3, had three runs scored, six RBI, a triple and a home run to help the Dragons defeat Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
Jake Schultz went 2-for-2, scored two runs, had two RBI and a double. Carson Deal went 2-for-4 and had two RBI for Litchfield.
Pitcher Stan Ridgeway collected his first varsity victory.
Max Kittock went 3-for-3 and scored a run for the Lakers.
LITTLE FALLS 13, MILACA 1
MILACA – Mitchell Boros got a win in his first career varsity start for Little Falls.
Boros pitched four innings, allowing one hit, no earned runs and striking out two.
Dan Marod went 2-for-4 with two doubles for the Flyers.
Nick Wolbert went 1-for-3 to lead Milaca.
PAYNESVILLE 17, YME 0 (5 innings)
REGAL – Trent Gertken homered and drove in three runs to lead the Bulldogs to a win over Yellow Medicine East. Matthew Quade and Brandon Schleper were also 3-for-4 for Paynesville (2-1).
Andrew Kerzman got the win.
ANNANDALE 5, ORONO 3
ANNANDALE – Austin Kalla went 3-for-4 to lead Annandale past Orono in a Wright County Conference game.
Cole Gueningsman went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Cardinals.
Nick Anderson and Calvin Rippberger each drove in a run for Orono.
ST. JOHN’S PREP 8, OSAKIS 5
OSAKIS – Joe Stock was 2-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Johnnies over Osakis. Andrew Bender had two hits and two RBI and John Martone was 2-for-2 for St. John’s (1-2 Prairie Conference, 1-3 overall).
Grant Franke pitched seven innings to take home the win.
Michael Herringshaw was 2-for-4 for the Silverstreaks.
UPSALA/SWANVILLE 3, LONG PRAIRIE-GREY EAGLE 1
LONG PRAIRIE – Tyler Evans pitched nine innings, had three strikeouts and got the win for Upsala/Swanville.
Justin Cichon went 3-for-3, scored a run and had an RBI, and Austin Johnson went 1-for-3 with two RBI for the Patriots.
Mitchell Hinnenkamp and Austin Lemke both went 2-for-3 for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle.
BROWERVILLE 8, ROYALTON 5
BROWERVILLE – Grant Heid went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Browerville past Royalton.
Bryce Irsfeld went 3-for-4 with three runs scored for Browerville.
