RICHMOND – Rocori beat St. Cloud Apollo 6-1 in a Central Lakes Conference baseball game to open the season.
The game was relocated to Richmond due to continued construction to the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
Alex Budde went 2-for-3 to lead Rocori (1-0). Budde, Cole Field and Hunter Ahrens each drove in a run for the Spartans.
Ben Alvord went 3-for-4 to lead Apollo (0-1). Zach Heyne went 2-for-4 for the Eagles.
Ryan Hennen got the win for Rocori, allowing four hits and no earned runs with eight strikeouts and one walk in six innings.
SAUK RAPIDS 18, ST. CLOUD TECH 11
St. Cloud Tech outhit Sauk Rapids13-12, but the Tigers issued 16 walks at Joe Faber Field.
The Storm’s Bjorn Hanson reached base five times with a hit and four walks and scored three times.
Matt Johnson went 2-for-3 and Jordan Schlichting got the win for Sauk Rapids (1-0 Central Lakes, 1-1 overall).
Chase Aleshire finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, Jake Martig was 4-for-5 with two triples and three RBI and Logan Aleshire went 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Tigers.
ALBANY 9, PIERZ 3
AVON – Junior Taylor Fourre had a big game for Albany in a nonconference win over Pierz.
Fourre went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. He also got the win on the mound for the Huskies, allowing three hits and two runs with three strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
Senior Austin Arceneau went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Albany (2-0).
Senior Cody Meyer and junior Noah Boser each drove in a run for Pierz (1-1).
EV-W 5, ROYALTON 3
EDEN VALLEY – Junior Logan Linn’s two-run single in the third inning put Eden Valley-Watkins ahead for good as they downed the Royals in a nonconference game. Linn also picked up the win after allowing two earned runs on seven hits over six innings.
Austin Schlangen and Reese Jansen both had singles for the Eagles (1-0).
Nathan Psyck was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Royalton.
KIMBALL 10, OGILVIE 9
OGILVIE – Kimball held off a late comeback by Ogilvie to win its season opener.
Ogilvie scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but left the bases full to end the game.
Senior Brandon Loch went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead Kimball (1-0). Senior Ty Morrison went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Senior Marcus Hoyles went 3-for-3 with two RBI for Ogilvie (0-1).
SAUK CENTRE 9, WADENA-DEER CREEK 4
SAUK CENTRE – Will Funk went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead Sauk Centre past Wadena-Deer Creek.
Funk picked up the win with one earned run allowed on three hits with seven strikeouts.
Sauk Centre’s Adam Froseth went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Mathew Moritz and Dylan Haskamp each had two hits for the Mainstreeters.
WEST CENTRAL AREA 5, ST. JOHN’S PREP 2
ST. JOSEPH – Jay Zimmerman went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead West Central Area past St. John’s Prep.
John Martone was 1-for-3 with two RBI for St. John’s Prep.
Grant Franke took the loss for the Johnnies (0-1 Prairie, 0-3 overall). He struck out seven and walked two in seven innings.
UPSALA/SWANVILLE 4, BROWERVILLE/EAG. VALLEY 2
CLARISSA – Tyler Evans threw a two-hitter for the Patriots (2-0). Evans recorded six strikeouts. Myron Ripplinger was 3-for-5 with two RBI for USA. Jordan Sales added two hits and three stolen bases for the Patriots.
PILLAGER 6, ST. JOHN’S PREP 5
ST. JOSEPH – Joe Stock and Nick Shaper each went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the Johnnies’ (0-2) loss.
