The West High baseball team split a doubleheader with Cedar Falls Friday in Cedar Falls. The Trojans lost 1-0 before winning 10-0 in six innings.
West was two-hit in the first game. Austin Miller suffered the loss on the mound despite allowing only one run. Izaya Ono-Fullard recorded both hits offensively.
In Game 2, Nate Disterhoft helped pace the Trojans on offense with three hits and two RBI. Shane Sturtz had two hits and two RBI. Kevin DeLaney added two hits and three RBI. Tanner Lohaus walked one and struck out seven in five innings for the win. West tallied 12 hits as a team.
West improved to 21-10 on the season.
• CITY HIGH 12-4, CEDAR RAPIDS PRAIRIE 2-8: City High split a doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Prairie in Cedar Rapids. City won 12-2 in six innings and lost 8-4.
Bryce Frantz went all six innings for the win in the first game. Frantz allowed one earned run while striking out seven. Nick Sueppel paced the Little Hawks offensively with two hits and three RBI. Brett McCleary and Matt Hensley also had two hits each.
McCleary took the loss on the mound in the second game, allowing six earned runs in 51/3innings. Sueppel had two hits.
City is 18-13-1.
• BENTON 7-8, SOLON 2-10: Solon split a doubleheader with Benton in Solon.
Tied 8-8 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning in the second game, Solon pushed across two runs to seal the victory. Tyler Linderbaum led off with a double, was eventually squeeze bunted home by John Kessler and then later Zach Wegmann hit an RBI single.
Dillon Drake picked up the win on the mound with two innings out of the bullpen.
Solon is 17-14.
• HIGHLAND 8, PEKIN 5: Chase Rath pitched a complete game en route to Highland defeating Pekin Thursday in Riverside.
Rath allowed one earned run while walking four and striking out eight for the Huskies. Lane Welsh went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Adam Schwarz hit two singles and an RBI. Jake Yeggy, Caleb Brase and Spencer Wieland all had a hit and two RBI.
Highland is 13-7.
