Josh Miller ran for two touchdowns and threw two more, while Caleb Batie added a pair of rushing scores as West Marion trounced Columbia 44-13.
In the intracounty battle Friday at Columbia, the Trojans took control early. Miller got the scoring started with a 16-yard touchdown run, followed by a 6-yard scoring run in the first quarter.
Miller’s 54-yard touchdown pass to Adrian Miller was followed by a 2-yard score by Batie. After a safety, Batie ran in another score from 1 yard out. Miller closed out the first-half scoring with a 15-yard strike to Stacy Brown.
West Marion led 44-0 at halftime.
The Wildcats added two fourth-quarter scores courtesy of a Mikail Webb-to-Fredrick Peters 24-yard touchdown pass and an 11-yard run by Webb.
Sacred Heart 20, Mount Olive 6
All the scoring was done by halftime, as Sacred Heart got one rushing touchdown from Campbell Klein and a pair of rushing touchdowns from Will Agnew en route to a 20-6 road victory over Mount Olive Friday.
The Crusaders improve to 2-2, while the Pirates drop to 0-4.
Klein’s score came from 3 yards out in the first quarter, while Agnew scored on runs of 15 yards and 1 yard in the second quarter to give the visitors the lead.
Sacred Heart enjoys a bye next week before returning home to face Lumberton on Sept. 25.
Columbia Academy 20
Silliman Institute scored 13 fourth-quarter points to rally and beat Columbia Academy.
The teams were tied 14-14 at halftime.
Colton Sandifer’s 1-yard touchdown run put the Cougars on the board in the second quarter, while Wiley Cleland’s 14-yard pass to Heath Greenlee resulted in another score.
In the fourth quarter, Greenlee scored on a 4-yard run.
The Cougars drop to 2-2.
Perry Central 8
The scoring started late, but Resurrection got a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to upend Perry Central Friday at New Augusta.
The Eagles broke the scoreless tie with 9:09 left in the third quarter on a 14-yard rushing score by Patrick Watts.
Less than a minute later, Cearly Parker returned a Bulldog fumble for a touchdown, giving the visitors a 14-0 lead.
Tijuan Bolton’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Scott with 11:52 left in the game and George Bolton’s 2-point conversion run cut the lead to 14-8.
