Woodburn High School was given the Sportsmanship Award by the OSAA for the 2014-2015 school year.
OSAA Assistant Executive Director Cindy Simmons presented the school a check for $1,000 during the Bulldogs’ homecoming assembly, which will be used to support Woodburn’s athletic programs.
The award recognizes behavior by students, coaches, administrators and the community at OSAA events over the course of the school year.
McNary graduate Megan Ulrey signed a letter of intent to play softball at Blue Mountain Community College.
Ulrey, a pitcher, was an honorable mention Class 6A all-state selection and was first-team all-Greater Valley Conference as a senior.
Willamette University’s baseball program will hold a baseball skills camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18.
The camp will be held at John Lewis Field at Bush Park.

Athletes of the week
Emily Rabe and Trent Van Cleave were honored as the athletes of the week Sept. 25 by the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club.
Rabe, a senior outside hitter for Sprague’s volleyball team, had eight kills and 14 digs in a win against North Salem, 15 kills and 14 digs against McMinnville and nine kills against Forest Grove.
Van Cleave, a senior quarterback for McNary’s football team, was 16 of 29 passing for 183 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in a win against West Albany.
