Here is some inside info on Enga:
What has been the highlight of your season?
Overall, I have really enjoyed my last year of basketball with my teammates and I always like team dinners when we hang out. In terms of games, beating Indianola was exciting.
Have you learned a lot from coach Wilkening this year?
Yes, he brings a lot of experience and heart to our team.
Your team will open postseason play on Saturday by playing at Ames in a Class 5-A regional semifinal. What do you think will be the key to the game?
Defense will be really important to the game, especially stopping them from shooting the 3.
Your team lost an earlier meeting against Ames, 57-41. What do you remember about that game?
Molly Sanders was a big offensive threat. (She made four 3-pointers and scored 25 points).
Who has been the toughest player for you to defend this season?
The CIML has some great players, but I would say Makenzie Meyer of Mason City. She knows how to handle the ball well, and she is a fast offensive player.
You signed a letter of intent earlier this month to play soccer at Iowa State. What did you like about the school?
I was born and raised an Iowa State fan. And, when I met the coaches and team, I knew it was the right choice for me.
What other schools did you consider?
I looked at several schools across the Midwest, but when I visited ISU I knew I wanted to be a Cyclone.
Will you play for Ankeny this spring or will you play club soccer again?
I will be playing both school and club soccer.
What position will you play in college?
Somewhere in the back, possibly midfield … wherever I have a chance to be on the field and contribute to the team.
Do you think you’ll have a chance to play right away?
Both of my coaches (Lacey Woolf and Daryl Brazeau) know how important it is to me to play as soon as possible. I will be working hard this spring and summer to make sure I am ready for the Big 12 competition.
What do you want to study in college?
Something in the health field. I would either like to be a Physician Assistant or a dietitian.
