Brady’s week

As the defending sectional champ and Division 3 state qualifier, Sarauer has played well for much of his junior season, taking first place in numerous meets and finishing highly in nearly all of them. Back on May 4, Sarauer helped the Ledgers set a school record for a team score in a nine-hole event as St. Mary’s Springs shot 146 to take first place at a Flyway Conference mini-meet played at Utica Golf Club in Oshkosh. Sarauer shot 33 at the meet to earn medalist honors. Last Friday, Sarauer earned medalist honors in a Flyway meet hosted by Winnebago Lutheran at Rolling Meadows Golf Course, shooting 33, and finished second in an 18-hole invitational on Saturday at Rolling Meadows, carding a 72.

Coach Joe Bird’s thoughts

“I think his strong point is his mental approach to the game and course management. At this level, you have to have a plan and stick to it, so I think that’s his strong point. Most of the players at this level have the physical skills, but what separates people like this is the mental approach.”

Brady’s thoughts

“I hit the ball pretty solid usually. I drive well. My irons are usually solid. One area where I can use the most improvement is my short game, putting and chipping. I’ve put a lot of work into my short game the last couple of years. I think I can attribute my lower scores this year to the improvement in my putting and chipping.”
