Post-Crescent sports reporter Ricardo Arguello goes one-on-one with Fox Valley Lutheran’s Jake O’Kane:
Q: Your team is at the top of the Eastern Valley and having a spectacular season. What are some of the things your team is doing well?
A: We’re doing a great job finding ways to win. We have a really strong defense and that’s been our backbone. We know we can hit, it’s just a matter of keeping the number of mistakes low.
Q: How much time do you put in during the offseason improving your game? What are some of your strengths and things you’d like to work on?
A: We had open gyms at our warehouse twice a week and we lifted almost every day. Personally, my strengths would be a strong arm and I’d like to work more on my blocking behind the plate.
Q: If you weren’t playing baseball in the spring, what other sport would you be playing?
A: Golf. Anything but track. No offense. I just hate running.
Q: Congratulations! You have won four VIP vacation packages to any destination in the world. Where are you going and whom are you taking with you?
A: I’m going to Punta Cana with Shenanagang. Also Matt Htwe and Gabe Rohloff can come.
Q: You’re heading to UW-Stevens Point next fall. Will you be playing football? Baseball? Both?
A: Right now the plan is only football. I love baseball, but I haven’t decided if I want to pursue it at the next level yet.
Q: It’s favorites time! What’s your favorite TV show?
A: “How I Met Your Mother.”
Q: Favorite movie?
A: “Star Wars.” The old trilogy only.
Q: Favorite musical artist?
A: Mike Stud.
Q: Favorite aspect of Fox Valley Lutheran High School?
A: The friends I’ve made and playing on some fun sports teams.
Q: Favorite video game and video game system?
A: Xbox One and “Madden 15.”
Q: Favorite place to relax at home?
A: The Packer Man Cave (basement).
Q: Favorite childhood toy?
A: “Star Wars” Legos
Q: Favorite meal prepared by mom?
A: Meatballs and some mashed potatoes.
Q: Favorite celebrity crush?
A: Niykee Heaton.
Q: Oh no! You are stranded on a desert island! You have plenty of food and water, but if you could have three things with you to pass the time, what would those three things be?
A: My phone because I’m addicted to social media, PSP and some Nike Roshe Runs to run from predators.
Q: Finish this sentence: The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team will … ?
A: … get an EVC title and do whatever it takes to make a deep run into the state tournament!
