The Portland High School girls soccer team opened play in the Ladies Championship Tournament with a pair of 2-1 victories on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Lady Panthers defeated Sycamore in a match played at Pope John Paul II on Wednesday.
Freshman Kiera Curry and sophomore Katelyn Woodall provided the goals.
Portland led 1-0 at halftime.
Then, the Lady Panthers defeated Ezell-Harding on Thursday in a match played at McGavock High.
All three goals came in the second half.
Senior Samantha England and sophomore Camrin Lyle scored for Portland.
Lady Panther junior goalkeeper Vicky Roe made six saves as her squad won its fifth consecutive match and improved to 7-2.
Lady Bison roll
HENDERSONVILLE The Station Camp High girls soccer team won its opening match of The Ladies Championship Tournament on Thursday evening, a 7-0 victory over Hume-Fogg at Pope John Paul II High School.
Six different Lady Bison players scored goals, with senior Brooke Bowman finding the back of the net twice. Freshman Meagan Lombardi scored a goal and added two assists, and classmate Katie Koumiss had one goal and one assist. Junior Megan Brinkley also scored once and provided an assist for the Lady Bison (5-1-2), who led 5-0 at halftime.
Senior Ashlyn Parker and sophomore Ariana Orellana also scored goals, and sophomore Carolyn Fitch contributed an assist for Station Camp.
Lady Knights split two matches
NASHVILLE The Pope John Paul II High volleyball team split road matches on Wednesday and Thursday, defeating Davidson Academy in three games on Wednesday before falling in three games to Father Ryan on Thursday.
The Lady Knights defeated Davidson Academy by a 25-11, 25-19, 25-17 margin and suffered a 25-23, 25-15, 25-18 loss at Father Ryan.
PJP II is 16-5 overall and 2-2 in Division II-Class AA East/Middle Region play with Thursday’s loss, and the Lady Knights will host Brentwood Academy on Tuesday.
Lady Hawks fall to Lenoir City
DONELSON The Merrol Hyde Magnet girls soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss to Lenoir City in Thursday evening’s Ladies Championship Tournament action at Donelson Christian Academy.
Junior Addison Oaks and freshman Abbey Miller scored for the Lady Hawks, and junior Emilie Boone provided an assist.
Merrol Hyde Magnet’s record fell to 4-4.
Lady Crusaders fall at DCA
DONELSON The Hendersonville Christian Academy volleyball team fell in three games at Donelson Christian Academy on Thursday evening.
The Lady Crusaders fell by a 25-7, 25-10, 25-16 margin.
Freshman Joy Courtright led HCA with three kills and three aces.
The Lady Crusaders fell to 1-10 overall and to 1-3 in Division II-Class A District 1 play with the loss.
HCA will host Mt. Juliet Christian Academy on Monday.
