The 16-team tournament at Lakeview High School was won by Temperance Bedford with a 25-23, 25-22 victory over Cadillac in the gold division final.

Host Lakeview was 2-3 on the day, splitting with Plainwell, defeating Loy Norrix, and losing to Cadillac in pool play.

The Spartans (12-7) defeated Portage Northern 25-22, 25-16 in the first round of bracket play before losing to Delton-Kellogg in three sets, 25-17, 13-25, 12-15. Rose Tecumseh led Lakeview in Kills with 39, while Sidney Schiller had 33 digs, 23 kills, and 10 blocks. Emma Morey tallied 108 assists on the day, Kayla Callaway had 26 digs, and Emily Eldridge had 25 digs.

Harper Creek also played in the tournament, losing in the gold division semifinals. The Beavers were led by Charley Andrews with 66 kills and 23 digs, while Olivia Leson had 44 kills and 43 digs. Jess Cadena contributed with 45 digs and 13 kills, and Katie Wade recorded 136 assists.

St. Philip was 1-2 in pool play, but won the silver division title by sweeping Delton-Kellogg 25-15, 25-15. The Fighting Tigers were led by Abby McKenzie with 48 kills and 40 digs, Anna Lehouiller with 36 kills and eight blocks, Morgan Luoma with 19 kills and 36 digs, and Kameron Haley with nine aces and 71 digs.

Also in the tournament was Bronson, who won their pool, but lost in the gold division quarterfinals to Harper Creek, 14-25, 19-25. The Vikings’ Alexa Ratkowski had 79 assists, 14 kills, and seven digs, and Allison Sikorski had 19 kills and 26 digs. Kiera Lasky had 25 digs, Jill Pyles had 19 kills, and Kirin Cekander had 22 digs and 21 kills.


MASON INVITE: Marshall lost in the gold bracket semifinals in three sets against host Mason, 25-23, 15-25, 11-15. Audrey Myers and Emily Delmotte both led the team in kills with 23, while Kaylie Bates had 69 assists, 38 digs, and four aces. Defensively, Grace Corcoran contributed 36 digs.

UNION CITY CLASSIC: Union City went 2-0-1 in pool play, defeating B.C. Central and Reading, and splitting a pair of sets with Centreville. The Chargers (9-7-2) again defeating the Bearcats in the first round of bracket play before falling victim to Quincy 22-25, 25-18, 10-15. Haley McIntosh led the way with 38 kills and 11 digs, while Rachel Wing added 28 kills, seven aces and nine blocks. Cassie Thorpe had 45 assists on the day to go along with a team-high nine aces.

LUMEN CHRISTI INVITE: Homer lost in straight sets to Adrian, Three Rivers, and Tecumseh before defeating Jackson High 25-23 and 25-21. The Trojans lost in the first round of the single elimination bracket play to Tecumseh, 20-25, 12-25. Tyme Warner led the Trojans with 10 kills, six blocks, and six aces, whiel Jill Sitkeiwicz had 10 kills and eight blocks, and Courtney Willson had 12 kills and eight digs.

TRI AT HANOVER-HORTON (THU.): Battle Creek Central lost both of their contest. They first fell victim to host Hanover-Horton (25-10, 25-14), and then lost to Concord (25-13, 25-21).

(At) ADRIAN 3, COLDWATER 0 (THU.): The Cardinals (4-7-4) were defeated by Adrian in three sets (17-25, 11-25, 23-25). Jasmine Wellet had 19 digs and five kills on the night, while Jamie Wellet had 16 assists and five kills. Sophomore libero Izzy Foley led the team in digs with 21.

DELTON KELLOGG (THU.): The Panthers defeated Hartford (25-15, 25-22) and Gobles (25-13, 25-19) on Thursday night. Leading Delton Kellogg was Morgan Champion with 22 kills, Hannah Walker with 25 assists and 17 digs, Lilly Howard with eight kills and six blocks, and Sam Mohn with 18 assists and 11 digs.

CLIMAX-SCOTTS (THU.): The Panthers split a pair of contest against Camden Frontier. Climax-Scotts won the first contest (22-25, 25-21, 15-8), and the dropped the second (23-25, 22-25). Statistically for the Panthers, Madison Nabozny had 23 digs, Emily Wagar had 10 kills and 10 digs, Sydney Macomber tallied 15 digs, and Taylor Macomber recorded 14 digs and 29 assists.


(At) B.C. CENTRAL 1, ST. JOSEPH 0: The Bearcats (2-3-3, 1-2-1 SMAC) scored the game’s lone goal early in the second half when Blady Patino converted a pass from Carlos Ramos into a goal. The goal was Patino’s first of the season, while goalkeeper Isaac Engelhardt earned his fourth shutout of the season with nine saves.

(At) PENNFIELD 1, KALAMAZOO CHRISTIAN 1 (FRI.): The two teams exchanged goals within three minutes of each other midway through the first half, with Pennfield’s goal being scored unassisted by Chase Austin. Keith Browand was in goal for the Panthers (3-2-1), making eight saves.

B.C. CENTRAL 0, LAKEVIEW 0 (THU.): For Battle Creek Central (1-3-3, 0-2-1 SMAC), Isaac Engelhardt earned his third shutout of the season and sixth shutout of his career with 15 saves.


MARSHALL REDHAWK INVITE (FRI): St. Joseph won the 17-team tournament at the Marshall Country Club with a team score of 355. Second was Jackson Lumen Christi with 369, followed by Gull Lake with 379. Harper Creek took eighth place with 411 as a team, Coldwater was 10th with 419, and host Marshall was 15th with 465. Gull Lake’s Jenna Vandenberg was sixth overall with an 88, followed by Martell (94), Ramage (97), and Stark (100).

Harper Creek’s top four golfers were Sydney Leatherman (95), Jacqueline Greene (100), Baylee Wilkins (106), and Emily Vahs (110). For the Cardinals, Haley Linton the the way with a 94, followed by Madison Dondrock (107), Gabby Boston (108), and Claire Sheppard (110). The host Redhawks’ top four were Kirsten Miller (107), Loren Bates (113), Jill Konkle (113), and Natalie Newman (132).
