The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team hosted Appleton West and Bay Port on Saturday, falling in both contests.
The Ships first lost 12-2 to Bay Port before being upended 9-2 by West.
Lincoln’s Brent Landon took the loss against the Pirates, throwing three innings while allowing seven runs — five earned.
David LaTour paced the Ships offensively, going 1-for-3 with a double.
Lincoln trailed 7-0 after three innings and couldn’t recover, scratching across a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Against Appleton, it was LaTour on the mound to take the loss. He threw five innings, striking out four and walking three. He also surrendered four unearned runs.
A close content between the Ships and Terrors was blown open by Appleton in the seventh. After Lincoln fell behind 3-0 after the first, it was 4-2 in favor of Appleton entering the top of the seventh before the Terrors plated five in the frame.
LaTour went 1-for-3 with a double to help pace Lincoln at the plate while teammate Austin Schleis was 2-or-3.
Saint Viator 10-11, Mishicot 0-1: The Indians were swept by the Lions in both games of the doubleheader.
Mishicot’s Tanner Orth took the loss in Game 1, allowing nine runs — two earned — on five hits in 12/3 innings of work.
The Indians were no-hit in the contest, striking out 13 times in the 10-0 defeat.
In Game 2, Orth paced Mishicot at the plate by going 1-for-1 in the 11-1 loss.
Taking the loss was Kyle Kintopf, who threw 11/3 innings and allowed eight hits. Once again, it was unearned runs which plagued Mishicot as Kintopf surrendered eight runs but only one of which was earned.
Oshkosh West 8, Manitowoc Lincoln 0: The Ships trailed 4-0 at halftime and couldn’t recover against the host Wildcats.
Hailey Augustine started in net for Lincoln, making seven saves on 13 shots. Closing it out was Ellie Pecore, who stopped eight of 10 attempts she faced.
As a team, the Ships had four shots on target for the contest.
Early Bird Invite: Manitowoc Lincoln lost all three games at the Green Bay Early Bird Invite.
In Game 1, the Ships lost 8-1 to Freedom as Kaitlyn Sukowaty took the loss. She pitched all seven innings, allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits.
At the plate, Kalli Roulette, Sabrina Luedtke and Hailee Kotche were all 1-for-3.
Game 2 was against Chilton, which Lincoln lost 13-5.
Kotche took the loss, throwing three innings and allowing nine earned on seven hits with four walks.
Roulette and Sam Kaufman each went 2-for-4 to pace the Ships offense.
The Ships fell behind early in Game 3 against Sturgeon Bay, allowing nine runs in the first inning. Lincoln rallied but eventually fell 10-7.
Taking the loss was Maddie Imhoff, who allowed nine runs — eight earned — on four hits and seven walks in two innings of work.
Lincoln had a good performance at the plate as Roulette (2-for-3), Kotche (2-for-4) and Kiley Brennan (2-for-2) all notched a pair of hits. Carley Braun also was 1-for-3 for the Ships.
Random Lake 8, Roncalli 2: The Jets trailed 4-0 after the first two innings and couldn’t recover.
Hannah Severin pitched five innings for Roncalli, allowing eight runs — five earned — on seven hits, five walks and four strikeouts.
Lydia Soodsma and Riley Wetenkamp each went 2-for-3 at the plate to pace the Jets offense. Wetenkamp also stole a base.
Shoreland Lutheran 11, Roncalli 10: A late Jets comeback fell short against Shoreland.
Roncalli trailed 11-4 after two played and pulled within a run after six complete but were unable to complete the rally.
Emma Patek took the loss for the Jets, allowing seven runs — two earned — on four hits and three walks in an inning of work.
Soodsma went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk to lead Roncalli’s offense while teammates Wetenkamp and Severin each were 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored. Soodsma also tallied two RBI.
