The Pennfield Panthers’ volleyball team beat Jackson Lumen Christi in four sets, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-14, in Interstate Eight action.
On the night, Alexa Stephenson had 16 kills and Teone Lewis had 10 kills and seven blocks.
Also for Pennfield, Montanna Rench contributed 38 digs, while Kailey Jackson and Kennedy Barlond recorded 15 and 14 assists, respectively.
HARPER CREEK 3, MARSHALL 1: In four sets, the Class B No. 4 ranked Beavers defeated the Redhawks, 25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 25-17. For Harper Creek, Charley Andrews recorded 26 kills and 12 digs; Olivia Leson had 22 kills and 21 digs; Katie Wade had 61 assists; Jess Cadena had 14 digs; and Jacey Bowers had 13 digs. For Marshall, Emily Delmotte and Mackenzie Benham each had 11 kills, Kaylie Bates had 27 assists, and Grace Corcoran had 11 digs.
STURGIS TRI-MEET: In three sets each, the Bronson Vikings beat Sturgis (25-12, 25-7, 25-16) and St. Philip (25-19, 25-12, 25-12). With the victories, Bronson completes the regular season 50-10-3. Statistically, Alexa Ratkowski had 11 aces, seven kills, and 51 assists; Jill Pyles had 17 kills; Allison Sikorski had 10 kills and 14 digs; Kiera Lasky had 19 digs; and Kirin Cekander had 17 digs and 10 kills.
After the loss to Bronson, St. Philip defeated Schoolcraft in four sets, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 25-14. For the Fighting Tigers, Taylor Pessetti had 70 assists and 17 digs; Kameron Haley had 42 digs; Abby McKenzie had 33 killsand 27 digs; and Morgan Luoma had 23 digs and 17 kills.
COLDWATER 3, CHARLOTTE 0: On Senior Night, the Cardinals swept the Orioles in three sets, 25-20, 27-25, 25-13. Jamie Wellet led the team in assists with 23 and digs with 12. Also for Coldwater, freshman Tyler Sheid had six blocks and five aces; while Jasmine Wellet had Breanna Eddy each had seven kills. Drue Mullin tallied six kills, nine digs, and three blocks, and Shelby Kahler and Izzy Foley had seven digs apiece.
CENTREVILLE 3, ATHENS 1: The Indians fell on the road Wednesday night in four sets, 14-25, 25-21, 12-25, 15-25. Josie Lamson led Athens with 26 assists and 23 digs, while Tayler Eutsey had 22 digs and 11 kills; Aubrey Cole had 24 digs and three aces; and Rachel Nobach had 24 digs and seven kills.
HARPER CREEK (TUE.): The Beavers beat host Portage Central (25-14, 25-20), but fell to Grand Rapids Christian in four sets, 23-25, 16-25, 25-18, 20-25. Leading Harper Creek was Charley Andrews with 31 kills and 17 digs; Olivia Leson with 16 kills and 24 digs; Katie Wade with 65 assists and five aces; and Kim Kusler with 12 kills.
ST. PHILIP (TUE.): The Fighting Tigers split their two matches on Tuesday, beating Lakeview in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-18) and losing to Niles (21-25, 23-25, 14-25). On the night, Abby McKenzie had 26 kills and 26 digs; Kameron Haley had 38 digs; Taylor Pessetti had 49 assists and 16 digs; Morgan Luoma had 12 kills and 10 digs; and Maya Segovia had five kills and five blocks.
HOMER 3, UNION CITY 0 (TUE.): The Trojans defeated the Lady Chargers in three sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-20. For Homer, Courtney Willson had eight kills, two digs, and two aces, while Briann Mohn had 22 assists and Jill Sitekiewicz had five kills and three blocks. For Union City (14-16-7, 3-4 Big Eight), Haley McIntosh and Rachel Wing each had seven kills; Haley Harty had seven digs; and Cassie Thorpe had 16 assists.
ATHENS 3, READING 0 (TUE.): The Indians took care of the Rangers in the Big Eight matchup in three sets, 25-11, 25-13, 25-11. For Athens statistically, Josie Lamson had 23 assists, six digs, and eight aces; Aubrey Cole had 17 digs; Rachel Nobach had 15 digs; and Tayler Eutsey had 11 digs and five kills.
HUDSONVILLE 2, GULL LAKE 0 (TUE.): The Blue Devils lost in two sets, 25-18, 25-21. For Gull Lake, Logan Sommerfeld had 22 digs, while Kenzy Corstange led the team with five kills.
PLAINWELL 2, MARSHALL 0 (TUE.): Marshall ended their season with the regional semifinal loss to Plainwell at Holland Christian High School. The Redhawks finished the season with Interstate Eight and District championships, as well as a 15-4-5 overall record.
COLDWATER (TUE.): The Cardinals lost to Delton Kellogg, Thornapple Kellogg, and Hastings in the quad swim meet on Tuesday. Earning a first place finish was Jayda Kelly in the 50 Freestyle (27.65). The 400 Freestyle Relay team consisting of Kenydee Otto, Ella Budd, Erica Rodgers, and Kelly took second place in 2:30.98. Also placing second in her event was Kory Ulrich in the 500 Freestyle in a time of 6:33.00.
