QUINCY – The Quincy boys’ basketball team picked up a huge win in Big Eight Conference action on Friday night, holding off Union City 68-58.
The Orioles stayed unbeatn at 4-0 while going 2-0 in conference, led by Jake Rider with 26 points and five steals in the victory. Also for Quincy, Nick Haberl had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go with three steals; Jake Jodway had nine points, five rebounds and three assists; Chase Cook had eight points and four assists; Quinn Eifrid had seven points and three assists; and Andrew Carney had seven rebounds.
For Union City (5-1, 1-1 Big Eight), Elijah Way had 15 points and Jalen Boes had 14 points.
(At) Quincy 36, Union City 23: Quincy’s Cailyn Cook finished with 10 points in the victory. Union City was led by Haley Harty with seven points, four rebounds, one steal and one assists in the loss. Also for the Chargers (2-5, 0-3 Big Eight), Makena Bartlett had six points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block.
