MARSHFIELD – The Stevens Point Area Senior High girls golf team wrapped up its second straight Clover Valley Golf League championship Tuesday.
Mary McDonald shot a round of 42 as the Panthers finished with a team score of 184 in the sixth and final leg of the tournament. The Panthers finished three strokes ahead of Stanley-Boyd, the team it shared the conference title with last year.
All four SPASH golfers shot in the 40s. Brook Tuszka had a 45 for the Panthers.
“I’m pleased that all the hard work they’ve put in has paid off,” SPASH coach Mark Lesinski said. “Right now, with the girls shooting in the 40s, they’re starting to reach their potential.
“They’re becoming more consistent. They had the skills but they needed to work on the scoring, and now the scoring is coming with the skills.”
Wisconsin Rapids’ Cierra Botcher was the top individual with a round of 41. It was the second time in the six legs that she has had the low score.

NEENAH – Erika Kisting, Leighten Fischer and Jada Beacom took first, second and third places, respectively at the Winneconne Invite for Iola-Scandinavia in the 5,000 meter course.
Natalie Rustad finished eighth and Haley Ullom placed 15th overall for the Eagles.
The Eagles won the team title with 29 points.

WESTON – Jack Mittelsteadt scored a hat trick as the Evergreens improved to 5-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Joey Dorgan scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute for the Panthers.
“We didn’t play that bad,” SPASH coach Mark Peel said. “I was happy with the way we moved the ball. We’re improving and getting better every game, but we’re sill not putting the ball in the net.”

NEKOOSA – Trevor Glodowski tallied three goals and Connor Molski chipped in with a goal and an assist to propel the Cardinals to a nonconference win over the Papermakers.
Nekoosa keeper Daniel Cavada stopped 14 shots to keep the outcome respectable.

ROSHOLT – Bre Richter had 18 kills and Mandy Kruzicki had 16 assists for the Hornets in the match of unbeaten teams against the Tigers.
The Hornets won the Central Wisconsin Conference-10 matchup 25-23, 25-10, 25-13 over the Tigers. Amber Bianco contributed 10 kills and five digs while Emily Rink added 15 assists.
“We came into a busy week with three matches and the girls knew we needed to bring it,” Rosholt coach Angie Richter said. “We face Wild Rose on Thursday and we’re trying to light the fire and get revved up. We absolutely brought it into gym and kept the fire lit. Our passes were money and we were able to put the ball away with lots of energy and intensity.
“We also really want to thank our fans. It is homecoming week and we had a pretty packed student section and I really believe that added to the energy on the court.”

TRI COUNTY – Catie Schmidt had three kills and five blocks for the Eagles in their Central Wisconsin Conference-10 loss to the Penguins.
The Penguins dominated 25-10, 25-14, 25-14 over the Eagles.
BONDUEL – Karah Kluck led the team with 18 assists and Paige Hintz added nine kills and 14 digs in the Cardinals’ loss against the Bears.
The Bears swept the Cardinals 25-27, 19-25, 21-25.
Andrea Pisarski had eight kills and three aces and Sydney Pisarski contributed 12 digs for the Cardinals.

STEVENS POINT – Julia Grygleski showed the way to a sweep of all four singles matches for the Cardinals with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 1 position in nonconference dual meet at the SPASH tennis courts.
Allie Henke and McCartney Sullivan teamed up to get the Raiders in the win column for the first time with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

MERRILL – Winning all seven matches during a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet is nothing new for the Panthers this season.
However, they may have outdone themselves by only dropping a total of seven games in their domination of the Bluejays.
Emily Luetschwager, Sabrina Tang and Suzie DeBot all pitched shutouts in singles for SPASH, while Madison DeBot and Kayla Stutesman combined to turn the trick at No. 2 doubles..
