Prep roundup: St. Philip's Greenman honored by MHSAA

Kevin Greenman of St. Philip was honored as a recipient of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Scholar-Athlete Award at the 2015 MHSAA Boys Basketball Finals at the Michigan State University. Greenman will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Farm Bureau Insurance to be used at the institution of higher learning he attends this fall.

Baseball

Pennfield 10-7, (AT) Parchment 5-5: Pennfield won the opening game of this doubleheader as Tanner Dean started from the mound, striking out seven and allowing just one hit in four innings. Gaige Parker had two hits and two RBIs and Dean added two hits and three RBIs. The second game ended due to darkness after four-plus innings with Darian Brown adding three RBIs.

Soccer

(AT) Calhoun Christian/St. Philip 4, LA Dragons 4: Megan Gordon scored twice for Calhoun Christian/St. Philip with Kendra Spencer and Kirstin Finnila each adding a goal. Emily Pearl made nine saves in goal.

Delton Kellogg 1, (AT) Lawton 0: Autumn Russell scored the lone goal for Delton Kellogg as the Panthers improve to 1-0-1. Hannah Butchbaker had 10 saves in goal for D-K.

Lacrosse

Pennfield 9, Tecumseh 7: Pennfield won its home opener as Michael Davis had four goals, with Ryan Miller and Justin Lamb each scoring twice and Carter Needham adding a goal.
