Bearden High School’s softball team is under new leadership, bringing closure to nearly two months of uncertainty since the abrupt departure of successful coach Leonard Sams.

Angelica Wade McClerkin, a former Bearden softball assistant under Sams who played collegiately at Mississippi Valley State, has been hired as the Lady Bulldogs’ coach.

The news was revealed in an email from school athletic director Nathan Lynn to booster club president Randy Susong and school principal John Bartlett early Friday.
