All good things must come to an end.

After one of the most successful prep seasons in recent memory, the 2014-15 soccer season will come to a close today as the Pensacola Sports Association hosts its annual Subway High School All-Star Series games at Ashton Brosnaham Park.

The annual event spotlighting senior athletes from the Panhandle is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory thanks to the caliber of talent on the pitch.

The East teams, after sweeping the boys and girls games last season, will look to do the same this year with a powerhouse combination of players.

Class 3A State Champion Choctawhatchee will add five members of its title-winning squad to the East boys team while the girls will field a stacked team that includes Navarre veteran Rylie Slaybaugh — who helped lead the team to its first state final four in program history — as well as the likes of Pace players Hannah Abrams and Claire Taylor.

Not to be outdone, the West has the pieces to walk away with wins as well.

Chandler Dixon highlight a trio of Catholic athletes that will join forces with six Washington High players, including the scoring threat of Chris Searcy.

For the girls, West Florida High’s Brianna Schubeck, a Southern Miss signee, will join up with Catholic’s Gretchen Cagle, a Tennessee signee, and one of the area’s most prolific keepers/midfielders.

“It’s a real good moment (for the girls),” said Washington coach Kenny Morgan, selected to lead the West girls.

“It’s a fun game. There’s nothing on the line except for maybe bragging rights.

“It’s a nice feeling to not have to worry about rankings or districts.”

Coaching honors for the event will go to Morgan and Austin King (West boys coach), as well as Bobby Parrish and Visanu Mongsaithong (East boys and girls coaches, respectively).

Tickets are $8 for general admission or $6 with a canned good or high school student ID.
