Rangeview off to good start against Fairview

KUSA — The Rangeview Raiders got revenge on the Fairview Knights with a 3-1 win last night at home. The Knights beat the Raiders in a fifth set last season just before playoffs making this a game for revenge.

Both teams started evenly, exchanging points and finishing the first set a close 25-23 for Rangeview. The Raiders took the second set more easily 25-13 with some great blocks and positive bounces.

However, Fairview wasn’t out of the game yet. Knights’ Christine Schmeideler serves up the ball just before Sami Young hammers it down for a point against Rangeview to go up 20-10 in the third set. The Knights’ momentum was too strong as they got the bounces and blocks they needed to get on the board to win set three.

In the fourth set the Raiders and Knights battled again. Raiders’ Kelsie Hurtado got a monster spike to put the Raiders up 11-7. The hits didn’t end their as Raiders’ Tyler Speller nails a spike to win the fourth set 25-20 and the game three sets to one.

Their win tonight helped them gain pride and some great momentum going into their 15-16 season according to captain Jackie McBride.
