LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two of the state’s best juniors – Perry County Central point guard Braxton Beverly and Owen County forward Carson Williams – provided updates on their recruiting Saturday after their game with the Kentucky Travelers club at the Nike EYBL.
Beverly said his most recent offers have come from Lehigh and Ball State, and he’s received recent interest from proiminent major programs Notre Dame, West Virginia, UNLV and VCU. Beverly said coaches from all those teams have watched him this weekend in Lexington and been in contact with the Travelers’ coach.
Beverly, a first-team All-State selection, said he also has offers from Northern Kentucky, Samford, Marshall, Western Kentucky, Belmont, Miami (Ohio), Cleveland State and Kentucky Wesleyan.
He said his recruitment is still wide-open.
The 6-foot-6 Williams is coming off a fantastic year in which he averaged 23.5 points and 14.5 rebounds. He said he now has offers from NKU, Ohio, Miami (Ohio), North Florida and Samford.
Williams had to cancel a recent visit to Ohio because of bad weather, and he plans to visit North Florida this summer.
“I like them all right now,” he said.
Beverly and Williams figure to be among the top contenders for 2016 Mr. Basketball honors.
