Richmond baseball loses first, ties second in tourney

By

After its second day at the Macomb County Spring Break Tournament, the Richmond baseball squad is sitting at 1-1-1.

Their first game of the day came with a 5-4 loss to Dakota, who only allowed one hit to Richmond. Jake Schmidt was the lone Blue Devil to get a hit, coming in their four-run seventh inning.

The Blue Devils turned around right after the game to play Warren Mott in a game head coach Scott Evans said they should have won.

Stefan Fenwick threw the entire game and pitched great, but too many errors kept Richmond away from a win. Andrew Reed was Richmond’s top batsman, hitting three hits and scoring one run.

The Blue Devils will end pool play against Lakeview before heading into the weekend’s knockout rounds.
