Now that is more like it.
After a slow start to the season, Rich’s Picks have been picking up steam. I’ve increased my correct predictions by two every week. I started with four, went to six in Week 2 and then hit eight right last week. We all know what’s left, don’t we?
But before that, there were a few folks who managed to beat Rich’s Picks last week.
Oak Harbor tripped me up again. The Rockets went on the road and knocked off a perennial playoff team in Eastwood. And then there was Margaretta.
Only three people picked Monroeville to beat Margaretta and, alas, I was not one of them. The Polar Bears were among the week’s biggest favorites, along with Swanton and Fremont Ross, but the only one to disappoint.
Graytown’s Ed Dusseau was one of the three entries who had Monroeville over Margaretta but the only one of those to reach nine correct picks, his only miss coming when he picked Bellevue over Clyde. Margaretta’s loss also tripped up Mike Strayer, of Bellevue, and Fremont’s Tom Herb, each of whom got all games correct except the Polar Bears’ loss.
Three more tied my eight picks.
News-Messenger sports correspondent Josh Morgret matched my picks exactly. (Way to think for yourself Josh!) Aaron Price, of Bellevue, missed Clyde and Monroeville while Clyde resident Ryan Smith was the only player to hit all seven high school games, but he missed on Michigan State’s win over Oregon and the New York Jets beating the Cleveland Browns. That’s what happens when you put your faith in the Browns, Ryan.
With Week 3 officially in the books, the drive for 10-for-10 starts now.
