SYCAMORE – Mohawk avenged an mid-season loss to Ridgedale with a 73-52 triumph Monday night in Northern 10 Conference boys basketball.
Mohawk led 14-12 after one period and 36-22 by halftime. Ridgedale could cut its deficit to only 10 the rest of the way.
Rockets point guard Preston Burton got into foul trouble in the second half and was on the bench for the majority of the final half. He hit 7-of-8 fielders on the night for 19 points.
Mohawk stretched its lead at one juncture of the second half to 28 points.
Mohawk was 24-of-40 from the field on 2-point shots for 60 percent and 6-of-15 from 3-point land for 40 percent. The Warriors also recorded nine steals.
Brayden Dunlap’s 22 points powered the Warriors.
Hunter Boyd added 12 points for Ridgedale while Jacob Cannon netted eight. Alex Eldred led the Rockets with six rebounds.
Mohawk won the JV game behind 18 points from Billy Dunlap. Nick Hunley tallied 10 for Ridgedale.
Pleasant 55, Buckeye Valley 46
MARION – Pleasant outscored Buckeye Valley 30-13 in the second half of a 55-46 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference win over the Lady Barons.
Summer Blevins led Pleasant with 13 points while Brittany Davis and Hannah Peltier each scored eight.
Logan Hatcher’s 16 points paced BV.
Northmor 57, Highland 35
GALION – Northmor’s 28-3 edge in the third period helped the Lady Golden Knights down Highland 57-35 in the MOAC.
Allie Tupps led her team with 10 points and eight rebounds for Northmor. Cheyenne Shelton added nine points.
MacKenzie Fuller paced Highland with 13 points and Harlee Steck hit for 10.
Northmor won the JV game 36-24.
MOAC Bowling Championships
MARION – Marion Harding and Jonathan Alder claimed team titles in the MOAC Bowling Championships at bluefusion entertainment.
Harding won the girls team title with 3,671 pins. The Lady Presidents were followed by Cardington-Lincoln (3,550), Buckeye Valley (3,495), Jonathan Alder (3,182), Elgin (3,017), North Union (2,913), Highland (2,897), Northmor (2,890), Mount Gilead (2.741), Fairbanks (2,122) and Pleasant (1,981).
Jonathan Alder, with 4,161, was the boys team champ and was followed by Highland (4,111), Cardington-Lincoln (3,816), Elgin (3,720), Buckeye Valley (3,686), North Union (3,382), Fairbanks (3,090), Pleasant (3,027), Northmor (2,947), Harding (2,830) and Mount Gilead (2,543).
Shania Byrne led Harding and the girls field with a 244 game and a 669 series. Brittany Sterritt (591), Rebecca Vaught (522), Hannah Jenner (433), Sarah Lyons (347 for two games) and Hailey Castillo (113 for one game) also bowled for Harding.
Taylor Diamond of Cardington-Lincoln was second in the girls tourney with 595 while Morgan Stuart of Buckeye Valley placed fourth with 589 and Alexis Jamison from North Union was fifth with 557. Sterritt’s 591 placed her third.
Liam Chandler of Cardington-Lincoln was boys medalist with a 684 while teammate Austin Edgell tied for fourth with 642. Devin Schoellkopf from Highland was second at 676, Nathan Whiting from Jonathan Alder placed third at 669, and sharing fourth with Edgell were Buckeye Valley’s Jimmy Davis and Keith Boggs of Fairbanks.
