On Tuesday, Macon County (Montezuma, Ga.) linebacker Roquan Smith tweeted: “There is no perfect school nor 100% right choice.”
In the end, UCLA was perfect and right enough to secure his signature.
Smith, long considered a Bulldog lean, picked the UCLA over Michigan, Georgia and Texas A&M live on ESPNU Wednesday morning.
“I just wanted to get out and do my own thing,” Smith said. “I think (UCLA defensive coordinator) Coach (Jeff) Ulbrich can develop me into the player that I want to be.”
Smith, who is ranked No. 2 among linebackers in the ESPN 300, racked up 176 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions, both for scores, this past season.
Here’s what the Bulldogs are getting in Smith.
