Fremont Ross’s Haley Fisher qualified to swim in the finals of the 200 individual medley at the Division I state championships at Canton’s C.T. Branin Natatorium after finishing Friday’s preliminary round in 2:06.07.
The top eight swimmers from the preliminary heats advance to the Saturday’s finals, while those finishing ninth through 16, swim in consolation heats.
Meghan Moses was 11th in the 50 freestyle (24.10) and 15th in the 100 free (52.28), while Fisher took 14th in the 100 butterfly (57.17). Both girls also swam on the finals-qualifying 200 freestyle relay (1:36.73) along with Morgan Waggoner and Kaity Kelly. The 400 freestyle relay team finished 10th in a time of 3:33.27)
The Little Giants’ boys team was represented in the 200 medley relay by Trent Williams, Tate Williams, Nick Hoffman and Hawk Smith. The Little Giants finished 20th in 1:33.39.
“(I’m) very proud of their efforts of moving up four spots and that they are 20th in the state,” Ross boys’ assistant coach Todd Williams said.
