Albany scored 13 first-half goals and held off Vermont in the final two periods to collect a 20-10 victory in college men’s lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field.
Albany (8-2) was led by its three attackmen — Lyle Thompson, Seth Oakes and Connor Fields — who combined for 16 points in the contest. Thompson led all scorers with two goals and six assists and Oakes added a game-high four goals. Blaze Riorden made 11 saves to pick up the win in goal.
Cam Milligan led the Catamounts (3-9) with two goals and two assists. Ian MacKay and Nick Bartlett each added a pair of scores.
• Adelphi 20, St. Michael’s 11: Brian Loughlin scored two goals and dished out five assists but it was not enough as Adelphi ran past host St. Michael’s
Matt Dromeshauser registered one goal and two assists, while Montpelier’s Deagan Goodman added a goal and an assist for St. Michael’s (4-4).
Salvatore Tuttle led Adelphi (8-1) with six goals and two assists, while Nick Susko chipped in with two goals and four helpers.
Women’s college lacrosse
• Vermont 18, Binghamton 7: Vanessa VanderZalm’s led Vermont with five scores ast the Catamounts cruised past host Binghamton in America East action.
Danielle Seifert and Jessica Roach picked up three goals each, and sophomore Alison Bolt and Alex Bernier chipped in with two scores apiece for Vermont (9-4).
Meg Hopkins picked up her ninth win of the campaign with a six-save effort in goal. Erin McNulty, stopped three shots for Binghamton (5-7).
High school boys lacrosse
• Middlebury 14, Woodstock 2: Jack Donahue tallied four times to lead Middlebury to a win over host Woodstock in the opening game of the season for both squads.
Connor Quinn added three goals and four assists for the Tigers (1-0), while Bobby Ritter and Ali Abdul Sater each scored twice.
Nathan Lalonde and Lucas Plouffe combined for 14 saves in goal for Middlebury. Wynn Falvey made four stops for Woodstock (0-1).
