Central Magnet came back from a one-run deficit with two outs in the seventh with six to win 9-4 on Saturday in the Walking Horse Classic. Reed Sullivan doubled with two outs to give the Tigers (21-5) a 5-4 lead.
Hunter Poff (5-0) collected the win, throwing 1.2 innings.
Jordan Jackson, Hunter Canterbury and Taylor Saling each had two hits for Central Magnet.
Parker Bates, Will Barham, Taylor Garner, Peyton Buckner and Brayden Melton each had a hit for the Cougars. Barham, Buckner and Melton each had an RBI.
Connor Ward (0-1) took the loss, striking out two and giving up two runs in 1.2 innings. Jared Smith struck out three and walked four in five innings. He didn’t give up an earned run.
MTCS 9, Cannon Co. 4: Parker Bates and Peyton Buckner each had three hits in the win for the Cougars (11-10). Bates had three RBIs. Buckner added two stolen bases. Justin Winn and Brayden Melton each had a hit and an RBI.
MTCS hosts Forrest on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Central Magnet 7, Moore Co. 2: McKenzie Jackson hit his fourth and fifth home run of the season. Teammate Jordan Jackson went 2-for-3. And Hunter Canterbury was 2-for-3 with a home run.
Doug Davis (1-0) picked up the win, tossing three shut-out innings in relief.
Stewarts Creek 6, Central Magnet 1: Stewarts Creek won its 11th straight in its final conference game of the regular season.
The Falcons (13-3, 8-2) were led offensively by Caleb Hawkins, Jalyn Law, and Mac Curtis who each had two hits in the game. Curtis scored two runs and hit his fifth home run of the year.
On the mound Hayden Ross, John Powers, and Mac Curtis combined to give up just two hits and one run during the seven innings. Powers collected the win.
Siegel 7, Columbia 6: Siegel won on a bases loaded walk to end the 13-inning contest.
MTSU signee Carson Lester was 3-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBI.
Tyler Kirkland and Jacob Key each had two hits. Jordan Middleton had a single and a double.
MTSU signee Blake Benefield was 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and walked three times.
Central Magnet 10, Huntland 0: Wes Duffield (3-1) collected the win. Reed Sullivan went 3-for-3. Hunter Canterbury was 2-for-2 with a grand slam. And Jordan Jackson was 2-for-2.
Central Magnet 7, Livingston Academy 0: Central swept Livingston Academy to improve to 10-0 for the season.
