ESSEX – After a late goal by Lily Schmoker tied the game for Champlain Valley, Mady Corkum struck in overtime to lift Essex to the 8-7 win in high school girls lacrosse on Wednesday.
Hailey Golden led the Hornets (3-10) with three goals and Corkum scored twice. Hannah Danis, Anna Olsen and Olivia Malle each had a goal.
Annie Keen scored three times to lead the Redhawks (6-7), Schmoker had two goals and Lydia Maitland and Hannah Bernier each tallied once.
• South Burlington 10, Middlebury 7: Casey Johnson found the back of the net four times to help South Burlington past host Middlebury.
Ava Hultgren added three goals and one assist for the 10-5 Rebels, while Willow Yager and Kimmy Norris each had a goal. Danielle Boucher made 11 stops to earn the win.
Middlebury (8-4) had seven players score a goal, with Emily Kiernan and Katie Holmes leading the way with a one goal and one assist. Baily Ryan had nine saves.
• South Burlington 14, Essex 7: Cam Nolting and Kyle Murakami each posted a hat trick and three assists as they fueled visiting South Burlington’s win over Essex.
Dylan Avery (two assists) and Max Capano also finished with three goals apiece and Mike Blauvelt turned away 14 shots as the Rebels improved to 11-3.
Brendan Gleason tallied a team-high four goals for the Hornets (9-4). Henry Adams (three assists), Sean Vanzo and Joe Galati added single goals and Andrew Lounsbury stopped 12 shots.
• Stowe 17, Burlington 12: Opening up a 7-0 lead after one quarter, host Stowe cruised to a victory over Burlington.
Phil McDermott paced the Raiders with five goals. Graham Kramer tossed in four goals and Graham Geissler stopped 18 shots.
Marley Heimert and Shane Centerbar had had tricks to lead the Seahorses, while Clark Stephenson and Sevin Garfield added two goals each.
