NEWPORT – Essex struck late in double overtime to edge out North Country for a 4-3 victory in high school girls soccer action on Friday.
Megan Macfarlane had two goals to pace the Hornets, while Samantha Serrantonio and Lindsey Pius also scored. Hannah Bovee earned the win with five saves.
Devinnie Davis had two goals and Faith Gosselin tallied once for North Country. Melodee Martin stopped 12 shot.
•Mount Mansfield 1, St. Johnsbury 0: Macey Wissell knocked in a pass from Anna Burke in the first minute of overtime to lift Mount Mansfield past St. Johnsbury.
Emma Parent made five saves in goal for Mount Mansfield (7-3) to earn the shutout.
Audra Shield-Taylor stopped nine shots for the Hilltoppers (4-4).
•South Burlington 1, Spaulding 1: South Burlington scored in the second half to tie the game with host Spaulding and the two teams settled for a draw.
Cam Peyko scored for South Burlington (4-5-1) with Posie Nash-Gibney earning the assist. Bailey Burt made seven saves in goal.
Tori Biondillo had the goal for the Crimson Tide and Lindsay LaPan made 20 saves in goal to help her team earn the split.
•Lamoille 2, Thetford 0: Lamoille struck twice in the first half to gain a win against Thetford.
Erika Noonan and Tyne Bechtoldt had the goals for the Lancers and Christa Keith made four stops for the shutout.
•Montpelier 4, Green Mountain Valley School 2: Cricket Basa tallied a hat trick to lead the Montpelier offense in a win over Green Mountain Valley School.
Isla Jenning scored the other Solons (7-3) goal and Allison Chadwick had 11 saves in goal.
Sophia Meynard and Syd Mason scored for the Gumbies and Izzy Nolan made 16 stops.
•Stowe 5, Northfield 2: Laura Glanz and Darien Boerger each had two goals to lead Stowe past Northfield.
Mackenzie Matckie added the other Raider tally and the team moved to 7-2.
•Champlain Valley 3, BFA-St. Albans 0: Three Champlain Valley players found the back of the net in a win over BFA-St. Albans.
Cooper O’Connell, Joe Parento and Nate Coffin all scored for the Redhawks and Adam Hamilton added an assist.
Aidan Johnson and George Davis combined for three saves for CVU, while Nick Hayden made seven stops for the Bobwhites.
•Burlington 3, Colchester 1: Host Burlington tallied twice after halftime to break free of Colchester.
Kujtim Hashani scored for the Seahorses (8-2) in the 13th minute before Diatourou Drame equalized a minute later for the Lakers (5-4-1).
Peter Makuni and Bienfait Badibanga scored after the break for BHS and Athanas Okuka made three stops. Colchester’s Thomas Colgrove finished with nine saves.
•South Burlington 2, Spaulding 0: Lucas Shaw scored late in the first half but it was all South Burlington needed as they went on to beat host Spaulding.
Patrick O’Hara added a goal for the Rebels in the second half and Tyler Ayers made two saves to earn the shutout.
Brad Romeo made eight saves in goal for the Crimson Tide.
•Essex 4, North Country 1: Four players scored for host Essex as it improved to 8-2 with a win over North Country.
Tristan Salgado, Evan Friedman, Noah Ferris and AJ Whitney (assist) all found the back of the net and goalkeeper Paul Federico (assist) finished with three saves.
Derrick Brault scored for the Falcons and Hunter Marsh stopped 12 shots.
•Rice 2, Milton 1 (OT): Louis Gazo set up Hayden Kjelleren for the game-winner in extra time as Rice edged visiting Milton.
Colby Scott also scored for the Green Knights (6-2), and Leland Gazo finished with two saves.
Colby Gray tallied Milton’s goal on a penalty kick and goalie Devon Jackson stopped 16 shots.
•Winooski 4, Danville 3: Winooski opened up a 3-0 first half lead then held off visiting Danville for a win.
Mitchell Chadwick had a goal and an assist for the Spartans, while Eddy Lamson, Eh Man and Abdullah Abdulaziz all added a goal. Abdi Ali Mohamed and Bharat Ghaley combined for nine stops.
Travis Grosse had a hat trick for Danville and Tim White made nine saves.
•Lake Region 7, Enosburg 1: Matt Lawlor had a hat trick, Riley Urie added two goals and two assists and host Lake Region rolled past Enosburg.
The 10-0 Rangers also got goals from Brady Perron and Dawson Stevens, while Liam Kennedy and Caley Derbyshire each had two saves in net.
•Middlebury 2, Missisquoi 0: Visiting Middlebury scored a goal in each half in a win over Missisquoi.
Jonathon Fitzcharles and Owen Hammel scored for the Tigers (3-4-2) and Drew Barnacle had an assist. Wilder Perera earned the shutout with four saves.
Shane Laroche stopped seven shots for the Thunderburds (1-7-1).
•Mount Abraham 1, Vergennes 0: Charlie Meyer scored midway through the first half and Mount Abraham held on for a win over Vergennes.
Caleb Bonvouloir earned the assist on the lone goal of the game and Nick Sczcecinski made seven stops for the Eagles (5-2-2).
Antonio Ruggiero had nine saves in goal for the Commodores (2-8).
•Blue Mountain 2, Twinfield 1: Mark Puffer stopped 18 shots in goal to help Blue Mountain preserve a one-goal win over Twinfield.
Nate Walton and Max Fournier scored for Blue Mountain, while Trucker Sulham added an assist.
Cordelle Santamore had four saves for Twinfield and Jordan Moore scored the team’s goal.
•Harwood 7, Lyndon 1: Payton Randolph and Philip Hekeler each found the back of the net twice in Harwood’s win over Lyndon.
Connor Woodley also scored and Esteban Garcia Guiance made two saves for the Hilltoppers.
Ricardo McPhee scored the lone goal for Lyndon (4-5-1) and Rory Bean made 10 stops.
•Essex 3, South Burlington 2: Erin Murphy had two goals and one assist to power Essex as the Hornets handed host South Burlington its first loss of the season.
Jenna Puleo also scored for Essex (5-1-2) and Mady Corkum made six saves.
Katie Young had a goal and an assist for the Rebels (7-1) and Kate Hall also tallied. Liz Sargent had six stops.
•Champlain Valley 4, Burlington 0: Champlain Valley struck twice in each half to move past visiting Burlington.
Allie Pashby-Rockwood, Nicole Anderson (one assist), Kate Machavern and Dani Peters all had a goal for the Redhawks (5-2-1). Tashia Pashby-Rockwood earned the shutout in net.
Devin Libby made 10 saves for the Seahorses.
•Middlebury 3, Colchester 1: Mikayla Foster scored twice for Middlebury as they edged visiting Colchester.
Tajah Marsden also scored for the Tigers, while Lily Smith and Lauren Bartlett each dished out an assist. Katie Billings and Sophia Chicoine had three stops.
Courtney Phelps scored on an assist from Kelsi Wallace for Colchester. Abby Ladd and Madison Martin combined for 16 saves.
•Mount Mansfield 2, Mount Abraham 0: Shannon Springer scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half to lift Mount Mansfield past host Mount Abraham.
Jess Peura stopped four shots to earn the shutout and Maeve Poleman had an assist for the Cougars (5-3-1).
Dee Morse made five stops in goal for Mount Abraham (3-6).
