Aly Hine hit a two-run home run in the fifth to snap a 2-2 tie as the second-seeded Jefferson softball team defeated No. 19 West Morris 6-2 in a Morris County Tournament semifinal on Thursday.
Hine finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Clare Bohn tripled and had two RBI for the Falcons (14-8). Alexa Petit allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven. For the Wolfpack (10-10), Mara Bohigian doubled.
Jefferson will face top-seeded Butler in the MCT final next Thursday at Peterson Field.
Parsippany 2, Morris Hills 1: Veronica Shaw had a double and one run scored for the Red Hawks (15-5). Megan Leitner had two RBI and one run scored. Pitcher Caitlin Brennan allowed one run on five hits and struck out 11. Lauryn Sonnenberg had the RBI for the Scarlet Knights (8-12). Cat Rewick scored a run.
Kinnelon 3, Whippany Park 2: Jessica Ratz had one RBI and one run scored for the Colts (11-7). Kristyn Amato and Alexa Saccomanno also scored. For the Wildcats (8-8), Megan Gallagher and Jessica Klein scored.
Boonton 16, High Point 1: Senior Joe Norton scored four goals, including his 100th career goal, for the Bombers (9-8). Senior Nick Lourick reached 100 career points with a three goal, three assist performance. Goalie Erik Hansen also picked up his 500th career save. Frank Rao had four goals and one assist. Levi Burnell scored and Ryan Halloran had the assist for the Wildcats (0-11).
Morristown-Beard 15, West Morris 6: John McDonald recorded his 200th point as the fourth-seeded Crimson (13-2) advanced in the MCT. McDonald finished with one goal and four assists. Teddy Hatfield had two goals and three assists. Thomas Rago and Chris Glancy each had a hat trick and one assist.
Chatham 14, Randolph 5: Will Barnett had five goals and one assist as the third-seeded Cougars (9-8) advanced to the MCT semifinals. Matt Coleman had two goals and six assists. Austin Pierce had four goals and one assist. Goalies Matt Nestler and Matt Grilli combined for eight saves. For the 11th-seeded Rams (9-9), Luc Swedlund scored twice. Jake Southren had two assists.
Delbarton 19, Mount Olive 4: Ryan Onderdonk scored seven goals as the top-seeded Green Wave (12-1) advanced to the MCT semifinals. Connor Kirst scored five goals, and Emmet Cordrey had two goals and three assists. Mark Laratta, Griffen Shira, Adam Gonzales and Nick Karle all scored for the ninth-seeded Marauders (8-6).
Jefferson 17, Paramus 5: Matt Bush had six goals and three assists for the Falcons (11-7). Trevor Rozmus had five goals and one assist. Alex Leming had three goals. John Malley and Brandon Vance combined for seven saves.
Jefferson 16, Morris Hills 6: Sophomore midfielder Julia Grilca led the Falcons (5-13) with a hat trick and two assists. Senior attack Danielle Pickard scored four goals, and junior midfielder Kendra Nolan had a hat trick. Junior attack Kellyann Gangaware had a hat trick for the Scarlet Knights (7-8).
Hanover Park 6, Dover 5 (10): Donato Casolaro had a double and two RBI for the Hornets (12-5). Mike Kiray doubled and scored three runs. Brad Daugherty doubled and scored twice. For the Tigers (6-11), Kevin Bullock hit a solo home run. Dominick Ruiz scored twice.
