Trailing 5-4 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, senior pitcher Sydney Ramsey hit a two run single to help lead Kings to a 6-5 win over McAuley in a Division I sectional final Tuesday.
Juniors Abbie Campbell and Chrissy Ramsey led off the seventh inning with back-to-back singles. Following a sacrifice bunt and a pop out, Ramsey delivered what proved to be the game-winning hit. She finished the day 3-for-3 with two RBI. Both Campbell and Chrissy Ramsey went 2-for-4, while Sydney Ramsey picked up the win for the Knights.
McAuley was led by sophomore Ava Lawson, who went 2-for-3 with a double. Sophomore Britney Bonno had a double and two RBI, while senior Morgan Wells was 2-for-4.
Kings (16-13), which finished ranked No. 10 in the Enquirer Division I coaches’ poll, advances to the district finals against the Northmont/Miamisburg winner on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lakota East. McAuley, ranked No. 4, finishes its season at 18-4.
Lakota East 3, Centerville 0, Division I sectional final: Junior pitcher Kianah Towe pitched a seven strikeout complete game to lead Lakota East–the No. 5 team in the Division I coaches’ poll. Towe also had a great day at the plate, going 2-for-3, with a triple and an RBI.
Lakota East advances to play Mason, Friday at 5 p.m. at Clayton Northmont.
Badin 4, Waynesville 3 (nine innings), Division III sectional final: Tied 3-3 in the ninth inning, junior Danielle Ray scored from first on an error to win the game for the Rams.
Ray, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI, led off the ninth inning with a single. Junior Lexi Wurzelbacher followed with a bunt, which led to an errant throw down the right field line, allowing Ray to score. Wurzelbacher finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. Freshman Nicole Rawlings threw a complete game, striking out six batters.
Badin advances to play Georgetown on Saturday in the district final.
Felicity-Franklin 10, Cincinnati Country Day 0 (five innings), Division IV sectional final: Senior pitcher Sandy Woodmansee threw a no-hitter, striking out 11 batters, to help the Cardinals win the sectional championship. Woodmansee was also 2-for-3 with a double at the plate.
Senior Allie Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with a RBI, and junior Lauren Mitchell had a double and two RBI. Felicity advances to the district finals, where it will play the Covington/Union City Mississinawa Valley winner on Saturday at 11 a.m.
