DUNCAN FALLS — A late goal in the first half carried momentum over to the second half for West Muskingum in a 4-1 win over host Philo in Muskingum Valley League boys soccer on Tuesday.
Kyle Stutes scored on a Wyatt Carder assist to put the Electrics up 1-0 about 11 minutes into the match, but McKal Griffin scored off a defensive miscue with three minutes left in the first half to draw West M (4-4-1, 4-2) even at 1.
A Philo own goal off West M’s Jeff Knaup’ flip throw at the 29:06 mark of the second put the Tornadoes up for good.
Griffin added a goal on a counter and found Kyle Lones for the final tally in the final 14 minutes to cap the scoring.
Ian Wilson had two saves for the Tornadoes and Jakob McElhaney had six saves for Philo.
Rosecrans 3, Dover 2: Michael Gibson knocked in two goals and Lane Dailey added another tally, as the Bishops (9-1) picked up a crucial road win in East Central Ohio League play.
John Glenn 3, Morgan 2: Austin Blatt, Jonathan Perry and Koen Riehl scored for the Muskies to move them to 7-0 in the MVL.
Riehl also assisted two goals and Blatt assisted on the other.
Tri-Valley 3, Maysville 1: Jake Dinan kicked a hat trick as the Scotties bested the Panthers in MVL play.
Watkins Memorial 1, Zanesville 1: Destiny Johnson scored 19 minutes into the game to put the Lady Devils ahead, but ultimately the two played to a draw at Sulsberger.
Theresa LaGreca’s tally came with 10 minutes left in the first half to tie the game at 1.
Kenzie Newsom had seven saves in goal for Zanesville, and McKenzie Pemberton made nine saves for Watkins. Each team had 11 shots on goal.
Tri-Valley 6, Maysville 0: After a scoreless first half, the Scotties found life in the second half of an MVL win.
Chloe Williams scored from Kenna Stones with 28:34 left to get Tri-Valley going, while Stones scored the next two from assists by Alizza Bonifield and McKenzie Dorr in a seven-minute stretch.
Dorr, Bonifield and Ellee Scott added goals later in the second for Tri-Valley, which had 21 shots. Emily Untied made four stops in goal for the shutout.
Philo 10, West Muskingum 0: Destiny Hutcheson kicked in four goals, including the first three of the game, as the Electrics (5-3-1, 3-2-1) outshot the Tornadoes 27-2 in the shutout.
Olivia Merew and Hannah Hartman had two goals apiece, Taylor Evans and Haley Howard added goals and Carrigan Pagath and Shelly Irvin had assists. Mallory Hill also made two saves.
John Glenn 8, Morgan 0: Ali Hill and Harlie Gregory led the Muskies (7-0-1, 6-0) with two goals apiece to a blowout win at home against the Raiders.
Rose Lekan, Alli Hylton, Ashley Townsend and Abby Wagner all added goals, while Hannah Matheney had three assists and Wagner and Townsend chipped in two assists apiece.
Morgan goalkeeper Donnie Rae Wallace had 18 saves in goal, while Regan Wilson did not have to make a save in the shutout.
