
Girls Soccer
The freshman and sophomore combination of Grace Karagjozi and Margot Ridgeway, respectively, vaulted the No. 1 seed Rumson-Fair Haven girls soccer team past No. 9 seed Rahway, 4-0, in an NJSIAA Central Group II second round game on Thursday afternoon.
Ridgeway got the scoring started for the Bulldogs (17-3-1) with a penalty kick at 8:52 and then Karagjozi added the team’s second and third goals at 33:54 and 40:30. Ridgeway assisted on Karagjozi’s second goal and on senior Michaela Borneo’s goal at 75:00, which finished off the scoring. Senior Allie Geiger also had one assist and junior goalie Samantha Beaudreault and freshman goalie Courtney Parton and the defense held Rahway without a shot on goal.
IN NJSIAA GIRLS SOCCER SECOND ROUND GAMES
Toms River East 3, Neptune 0: Kylie Meola had goals in the 55th and 78th minutes and Jillian Conklin had a goal in the 51st minute as the No. 3 seed Raiders (15-5-1) edged the No. 11 seed Scarlet Fliers (8-11-2) in a Central Group III game. Conklin, Leena Keghlian and Shea Holland each had one assist and Jordyn Ferone made five saves. Neptune’s Allie Kerwin made 15 saves.
Freehold Township’s Whitley, Colts Neck’s Visco get All-American Honors
Freehold Township 4, Freehold 0: Jasmine Colbert had two goals, Nicole Whitley and Jada Colbert each had two assists and Kaela Chadziutko made seven saves as the No. 1 seed Patriots (17-4-1) edged the No. 9 seed Colonials (10-9-1) in a Central Group IV game. Freehold’s Stephanie Moir made eight saves.
Shore 8, Haddon Township 1: Freshman Frankie McDonough had four goals and one assist while Hannah Birdsall added two goals and three asssits to led the No. 1 seed Blue Devils to a Central Group I win.
Manalapan 2, Hillsborough 1: The No. 3 seed Braves (14-2-1) rallied from a 1-0 defict with goals from Ashley Pimentel at 47:34 and Ariella Kaplan at 69:28. Arianna Ferraro assisted on both goals and Ariel Kamen made 11 saves.
Toms River South 3, Highland 0: Maddy Meise had one goal and one assist while Charly Slavick and Mackenzie Ryan each added a goal as the No. 4 seed Indians (19-6) won the South Group III game. Katie Hammack and Emily Donzanti each added one assist and Taylor Dean made six saves.
Holmdel 1, Bernards 0: Senior Casey Matthijs scored the game-winning goal at 66:22 and junior Mattie Milkowski made 11 saves for the No. 3 seed Hornets (14-6) in the Central Group II game.
Toms River North 2, Rancocas Valley 1: Nicole Logan scored in the ninth minute and Maria Karagiannakis added a goal in the 45th minute as the No. 4 seed Mariners (12-2-6) held on for the South Group IV win as Ashley Tutzauer made three saves.
Central 2, Winslow 0: Alexis Jensen scored at 13:12 and 24:34 as the No. 3 seed Golden Eagles (14-5-1) won the South Group III game. Junior Ashley DellaPietro provided both assists and sophomore goalie Noah Smith made 15 saves.
Colts Neck 7, Steinert 0: Allison Russo had two goals and three assists, Frankie Tagliaferri and Amanda Visco each had two goals, Kayla Lee added two assists and Lauren Feaster made two saves for the No. 1 seed Cougars (20-0-1) in a Central Group III game.
Ocean 1, Moorestown 0: Sophomore Sydi Greaves had the game-winning goal and junior Talia Pritzlaff had the assist and senior Allison Chomsky made five saves for the No. 7 seed Spartans in a Central Group III game.
Wardlaw-Hartridge 4, Ranney 3: Sofia Ambrosio scored two goals and Alex Garces tallied a goal and two assists to send second-seeded Wardlaw-Hartridge into the semifinals. Mia Reyes also notched an assist for the Rams, who will play host to third-seeded Holy Spirit on Monday.
Wall 3, Allentown 1: Amy Paternoster had one goal and one assist while Katie Hyde and Dari Lyons each had a goal and Alex Panasuk made five saves for the No. 5 seed Crimson Knights (15-5-1).

IN NJSIAA FIELD HOCKEY SECTIONAL FINALS
Shore 7, South Hunterdon 0: Senior Annie Deusch had two goals and two assists, sophomore Abby Kopec had three assists, senior Jessica Welch had one goal and one assist and junior Lauren Maul had two goals as the No. 1 seed Blue Devils (20-4) toppled the No. 6 seed Eagles (12-9) to win the North 2 Group I title. The Blue Devils have won a sectional title three years in a row.
Freehold Township 1, Jackson Memorial 0: Senior Jessica Pietracatella scored the game-winning goal 3:24 into overtime as the No. 4 seed Patriots (14-5-1) repeated as Central Group IV champions in the win over the No. 3 seed Jaguars (15-3-2). Senior Darlene Benjamin made three saves and senior Sara O’Malley provided the assist and Pietracatella assisted on sophomore Jessica Applegate’s goal at 52:02, which tied the game at 1-1. After a 4-4 start to this season, the Patriots are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games. Jackson Memorial’s Taryn Wilkins scored at 33:56 for a 1-0 lead and Morgan Novak made 10 saves.
