Giovanna Russomanno and Veronica Woehr led the Ocean Township softball team to a 5-1 Class B North triumph over Red Bank Catholic on Thursday afternoon.

Russomanno finished 3-for-4 with one run scored and RBI, while Veronica Woehr went 1-for-3 with two RBI, as the Spartans (9-6) defeated the Caseys (10-8). Ocean’s Morgan Walsh and Michaela Pembleton each drove in a run and scored another, while the latter struck out three, allowed one a run, and scattered five hits in a complete game effort.

Brick 8, Manchester 5: In the bottom of the third inning, Nicole DiFoglio blasted a three-run home run to give the Green Dragons an 8-0 lead as they held on for a nondivisional victory over the Hawks. Corinne Connolly (2-for-4, 3 RBI) had a three-run home run in the first and Samantha Le went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Christine Frazee (5-7) struck out five batters. Manchester’s Hailey Himpele had a two-run home run in the fourth.

St. John Vianney 12, Rumson-Fair Haven 0: Ashley Ventura went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI and also increased her record to 15-0 as she struck out 10 batters, Jess Carlucci went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Demi Rivera went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Clarie Stefanelli added a 3-for-4 performance with a double and one RBI. Helena Coppola and Erica Krumbine each went 2-for-4 and Michelle King went 2-for-3.

Monmouth 8, Shore 2: Jaden Eggleston and Jess Pszeniczny each had triples leading the Falcons over the Blue Devils in a Class A Central game. The Falcons broke open the game in the sixth inning with five runs, Pszeniczny also picked up the win for Monmouth in the circle.

Neptune 2, Red Bank 0: Katy McGovern and Summer O’Neil each had one RBI and Amelia Dominguez and Jamie Ferguson each went 1-for-3. McGovern (2-11) went the distance, allowed four hits and struck out nine batters. Red Bank’s Jessica Scotti and Carly Keller each went 1-for-3 and Katie Serkus went six innings, didn’t allow an earned run and struck out 15 batters.

Matawan 3, Colts Neck 2: Senior Erin Powers (9-2) went the distance, allowed four hits, walked one batter and struck out 10 and Jess Veary had the game-winning, walk-off hit as the Huskies edged the Cougars in a Class B North game.

Wall 20, Long Branch 3: Emily Mowen went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI, Casey DeSarno went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI and Mary Kate Gallagher had two strikeouts. Long Branch’s Amanda Giron was 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Freehold Township 11, Howell 4: Kayla Butkus had a two-run double in the second, Taylor Tobey went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Kayla Tirbassi went 2-for-3. Howell’s Paige Eckert had two hits and two RBI.
