WOOSTER – Doug Boals placed in four events, including two relays, as River View’s boys track team took third at the Wooster Kiwanis Invitational on Saturday at Wooster High School.
Boals won the 100 (:10.9) and was second in the 200 (:23.5), while he also ran on the 4×100 and 4×200 relays with Tyler Pinckart, Grant Dunn and Andy Smith that placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
Wooster won the event with 186, followed by Hudson (140), River View (79), Massillon Washington (68), Mount Vernon (64), Canton Timken (52) and Creston Norwayne (49).
The 4×800 relay of Steven Scheetz, Chris St. Clair, Mike Hardesty and Lane Beatty was second (8:26.7), while St. Clair was also third in the 800 (2:06.7).
Other top finishers included Scheetz, who was third in the 3200 (9:51.0), Marcus Watson, who was fifth in the 110 hurdles (:16.2) and Brendan Dixson, who took sixth in the pole vault (9-0).
In the girls meet, River View was fifth out of seven teams with 69 1/2 points. Wooster won with 139 1/2 and Norwayne was second at 117 2/3.
Brooklyn Douglass won the high jump at 5-1 for the Lady Bears. Taking third places were the 4×800 relay (10:45.39) of Bella Pendola, Samantha Douglass, Cassidi Bookless and Kelsey Strange; Strange in the 800 (2:32.91) and Pendola in the 3,200 (12:29.84).
Adding fourth places were the 4×100 relay (:53.39) of Brittany Schaeffer, Whitney Sender, Kayla Metz and Grace Wherley; Wherley in the 100 (:13.2), Metz in the 200 (:28.31) and Fawn Denbow in the pole vault (8-0).
